Sad Sittingbourne 36 vs Seaford 7 18.10.08 3pm Cup
Saturday 18th October 2008
EDF Junior vase
Sittingbourne vs Seaford

Final score: Sittingbourne 36 – Seaford 7

Team: J.Morgan, S.Dann, S.Parker(C.Taylor), S.Baker, T.Culshaw, C.Cameron, P.Culshaw, D.Newby(capt.), A.Booth, B.Cox, J.Nimmo(K.Woodward), P.Burns, C.Burns, T.Geogehean, N.Everson.

With very short notice and a much depleted side, Seaford travelled to Sittingbourne to take part in the third round of the EDF junior vase. Having not come up against Sittingbourne for a number of years Seaford were unsure what to expect but keen to play their best.
From the kick off it was clear that Sittingbourne were a league above what the Seaford team were used to playing. With a well drilled front row and talented backs it wasn’t long before the home side crossed the try line to open the scores. They crossed the line two more times and kicked a penalty to put themselves 24 points ahead at half time.
The second half saw some better play from Seaford and, except for an early score, Sittingbourne were left frustrated. This period saw Seaford’s only score of the match when Chris Burns brilliantly intercepted a loose pass and sprinted three quarters of the pitch for a well earned try.
Although the score shows a big loss for Seaford they came away from the pitch with their heads held high and some positive points to work from. They showed great strength and determination in defence and showed that they will never give up in a game.

Next week the first team travel away to Holbrook and the second team travel away to Heathfield.

Unlucky. Lick the wounds and move on.
